Anyone who knows me knows that I am partial to using different facemasks and I tend to pick a couple up whenever I go out shopping. However, I rarely use sheet masks. Instead I tend to use the traditional mud masks or peel off masks that I have been using since my teenage years.
I watched a video on YouTube (sorry I can’t remember the name of the channel!), where they used a sheet mask and stated that this type of mask has been proven to penetrate the ingredients into the skin better than other types of masks, so I decided to grab one to review.
The mask that I got was the Radiant Blueberry Facial Mask Sheet and I picked this up at my local K-mart. The packaging drew me in as it looks fresh, clean and uncluttered.
The instructions on the packet are as follows:
- Cleanse your face and pat dry.
- Remove the sheet and unfold.
- Place across your face, using the ear holes to position correctly.
- Relax for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Rub in any excess in a gentle circular motion.
I followed the instructions and chilled out for 20 minutes to let it work its magic on my tired skin. After the 20 minutes were over I massaged the excess liquid into my skin. At this point it still felt quite sticky on my face.
I waited a while before applying my makeup and I must say that the tackiness on my skin did not subside. I used my usual moisturiser and then I used double the amount of primer on my face to create more of a barrier between my makeup and the remaining product on my face from the mask. This seemed to work well as stopping the stickiness before applying my makeup.
Later that evening I did notice that my skin felt much softer than usual and even upon waking the next morning I could feel the difference.
I would defiantly buy this product again and I look forward to trying more sheet masks in the future. What I have learnt is that it’s probably a clever idea to use the mask in the evening to avoid the issues I had with left over product on the skin. Also, it gives extra time overnight to allow the product to fully penetrate your skin.
