Like most women, I am always on the search for the best mascara. It’s a never-ending search for me, not unlike trying to find a unicorn for my 4 year old, which I have to say is proving easier than finding the perfect mascara.
After considering having eyelash extensions to achieve a full set of long lashes I decided to embark on the never-ending quest to find the perfect mascara…and believe me if it is out there I will find it!
So, it was this quest that lead me to try the Loreal Telescopic mascara. I have a handful, well 7 to be exact, of mascaras currently on the go in my makeup drawer and although I would purchase at least half of them again, there is still something about each one that I feel stops it being the perfect mascara.
Here is my first impressions and review of the Loreal False Lash Telescopic Infinite Length Effect Fibers Mascara. The name is unbelievably long however I thought it necessary to include the full name as there are a couple of different varieties of the telescopic mascara And I didn’t want to cause confusion as to which one I used.
Firstly, I love the packaging, the fact that it comes in a box and so cannot be opened in the store allowing air to get in and cause it to dry out is a massive plus point for me. Too many times have I purchased an off the shelf mascara that hasn’t had a sealed tab or come in a box, leaving it totally open to being contaminated before purchase… ew!
The sleek silver packaging looks nice and feels a semi decent quality too. Moving on to the wand. I totally love this wand! This has a comb like brush made from some sort of plastic which combs the lashes stopping them from clumping up and giving the illusion of length when you comb through the lashes. (side note… I did still use my trusted old wand from my Benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara as a lash comb after applying this mascara in order to fully separate the lashes and leave them evenly coated.)
The formula… now I so wanted to love the formula and so I continued to use this mascara over a 4 week period, this for me is where this mascara is let down. I mean don’t get me wrong, it applied great and coats the lashes well. I have no problems with that part whatsoever and it did give me great length too which I have totally fallen in love with. Its super build-able too meaning I can wear up to 3 coats without it being really clumpy on my lashes… all that I LOVE! However, the mascara flakes throughout the day leaving small bits of mascara on your cheeks which leaves me forever running to the ladies room when I’m out and about, just to check and remove the offending mascara flakes.
Like I said earlier, everything else about this mascara is perfect for me and so I continued to wear it for an entire month, hoping that I would either get over the fall out or somehow it would miraculously stop happening. Alas neither of the above scenarios ever happened and I was left feeling a little disappointed.
Would I buy this again? Probably, however I feel like I would maybe try others in this range before repurchasing this one again. There was so much I did love about it that I think it will inevitably show up in my makeup bag in the future.
I will most certainly be washing and saving the wand as a lash comb to use with other mascaras in the future though as I’m totally in love with the wand… as I am with the Benefit ‘They’re Real’ wand too.
Would I recommend it? I would, it’s not too expensive and I think it’s worth trying out as it has so much going for it. And maybe, just maybe you won’t have an issue with a little flaking mascara. I am being particularly critical as I am on the hunt for my perfect mascara and although this ticks most of the boxes it fails to bowl me over in this particular area.
I’d love to hear if you have tried this mascara before and what you thought about it. Let me know in the comments below.
