So I’ve been trying to make the move slowly but surely to a more natural skincare. Fuelled for the most part by the fact that my skin is highly allergic to lots of additives in skincare and hygiene products… namely parabens and SLF’s which, makes it particularly difficult when trying new products especially face creams and shampoo.
That’s what lead me to trying out something new, my own creation. I mixed organic coconut oil, which I get from my local supermarket with the contents of my vitamin E capsules. The ratios I use are 100g of coconut oil to 10 vitamin E capsules. I store this in a small glass jar and apply a small amount each morning after cleansing and before priming my face.
I have been doing this for just over a week and my acne has disappeared and my dry / combination skin patches are totally non-existent! I can’t believe the difference this has made to my skins appearance and feel in such a short amount of time. I also put a small amount on my lips after I use my usual lip exfoliator and they have never felt better!
I’m a total convert! Now don’t get me wrong I still use lots of shop bought products in my night time skincare routine such as beauty serum, cleansing water and night cream which also help my skin to look and feel great. However, there has been a marked improvement since introducing this additional and super inexpensive step to my morning routine.
An additional tip for using this amazing elixir creation is to clean an old mascara wand and add a little to your lashes and brows overnight to nourish them. Do not do this step in the morning if you intend on wearing makeup as the oils will affect the wear of your mascara causing panda eyes, not such a good look.
I think because of the success I have had with using this I will be conducting some research into other homemade and chemical free alternatives to switch up my makeup and skincare routine.
