My favourite way to detox

Detox is such a trendy topic now and my Facebook news feed is full of people selling detox coffee, teas and shakes to transform your body in record time.

So I thought I’d turn the subject on its head a little and show you guys how I detoxify my face! Yep, you heard me, I detox my skin at last twice per week using a bamboo charcoal mask! There are lots of these on the market so there’s something for every budget, I have linked the one that I use if you guys are interested.

The mask I use bubbles and fizzes to oxygenate the skin all whilst it detoxes, pulling all the yucky impurities to the surface.

Again, there are other foaming masks on the market but be sure to look for a bamboo charcoal foaming mask to get the same detoxing affect rather than one or the other. they’re super popular right now so I’m sure you will find one available in your country that also fits within your budget.

I love to do this as it makes my skin feel so refreshed and super clean. I follow up with my homemade skincare or my night time skincare routine depending on what time of day it is. If you use a beauty serum then using this after the mask is the perfect time to allow it to penetrate your skin without carrying any dirt or grime with it along the way.

If you have particular problem spots then you can target them by only applying the mask in these areas if you prefer.

My top tip… if your mask is a foaming or bubbling one then do not use your fingers to get the product out of the tub, use a dry clean spoon or a clean brush. This is because the moisture and oils from your fingers can activate the fizzing ingredients causing the remaining mask to bubble in the jar. If your mask has a pump then there’s no need to follow this step.

Leave the mask on as long as suggested and then wipe off, I like to use a bamboo cloth with warm water for this step. And voila! Baby soft skin that is detoxified.

Other uses for the mask are:

  • use on your underarms to detox and remove any nasty smells. This use is particularly good if you prefer not to use deodorant or chemical free deodorants as you can do this to your underarms every couple of days to draw out all of those nasty toxins.
  • You can use on your feet if you have scaly and or smelly feet. This again tackles much of the odor and will soften the dry skin too.
