Benefit Badgal Bang Mascara first impressions

I was fortunate enough to take part in a blind mascara testing. I received a mascara in an unbranded tube in order to complete a totally unbiased review of the mascara in question.

I later found out that the mascara was indeed the Badgal Bang mascara by Benefit Cosmetics.

When I first opened it, I was pleasantly surprised by the wand. I prefer a moulded silicon-based wand over a bristle brush for separating my lashes… my all-time favourite mascara wand being They’re Real, also by Benefit Cosmetics. This was a real positive for me and so I didn’t hesitate to apply the mascara straight away.

The formula is quite wet and not too thick, which, for me, is a positive as I find this type of formula easy to work with and as it takes a little longer to dry (due to the wetter formula) I can work a lash comb through before the mascara dries in order to get beautifully separated lashes.

My first impressions after trying this mascara for the first time – I was pleasantly surprised with both the length and curl that I got from just one coat. After experimenting with the mascara for a couple of weeks and adding extra coats, tipping the ends of my lashes and just playing around with different combinations I have to say that the mascara grew on me even more!

The Mascara had real staying power and did not smudge or flake throughout the day (one of my pet peeves about some mascaras) and lasted well throughout some incredibly humid New Zealand summer days.

I feel that the Benefit Badgal Bang Mascara is something that everyone has room for in their makeup bag. It’s a solid product that can be worn for a daytime look and is easily buildable for a dramatic eye in the evening.

I will continue to wear mine as my current go to mascara and would be more than happy to purchase again in the future.

I’d love to hear what your favourite mascara is below… I am always seeking the one mascara that will change both my lashes and my life and would love to hear your recommendations.

Full disclosure… my mascara trial was sent to me free of charge by Farmers NZ and is available on their website for purchase. If you’re not in NZ then you can grab yours here.

(In no way was I paid to write about this mascara and my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. (the images used are all from Benefits website… I usually prefer to take my own photographs of the products however as I had a blind test the product packaging doesn’t reflect the true packaging when purchasing the mascara.))
